Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I’ve never seen it written down like this before.

WATER
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 30%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of COKE

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the “real thing” sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Info
1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a glass of water or coke?

The most common reason that people cite for dieting today is weight loss. While most of us would love to claim the noble mantle of dieting for health the vast majority of us are doing so for vanity. This, however, is a perfectly acceptable and plausible reason for making the lifestyle changes that are necessary in order to diet. In fact, this reason might prove to be a far greater motivator than many of the other commonly stated reasons for dieting.

When dieting for weight loss one of the most common complaints is constantly feeling hungry. In order to help combat this, you might want to incorporate some of the following strategies into your dieting program. First of all, eat more high fiber foods. Whole grains, apples, pears, and lima beans are a great source of fiber as are many breakfast cereals. Easy does it however when it comes to fiber as it may be filling but there are some unpleasant side effects that may accompany heavy fiber eating (remember that beans are a good source of fiber). Try using a product such as Bean-o when consuming larger amounts of fiber. You might also try spreading your fiber intake throughout the day rather than consuming all your daily fiber at once.

Another method for feeling fuller when dieting is to drink plenty of water while dieting. Water provides an important service to the body and is very necessary when it comes to delivering all the nutrients where they need to go. Water also helps regulate your metabolism, which is very important to the dieting and weight loss process. Additionally, water will help you skin retain its elasticity so that your skin can go more easily back into place once the serious weight loss begins.

Learn to control your portions. We live in a world where portions are over inflated and super sized so often that we no longer know what an appropriate portion looks like. Restaurant meals are quite often more than adequate for at least two full meals and that is before salads, soups, appetizers, or desserts have been ordered. Learning to portion correctly can save you from over loading your calorie intake for the day massively. It can also help you get extra helpings of the lower calorie foods such as lettuce and other vegetables rather than taking such large portions of calorie rich starches or fried foods.

Do not go “Gung Ho”. There are limits to what the body and the mind can handle. When you go on a diet you are making a drastic change to your bodies caloric intake. If you go overboard you can lead to health risks along the way. Begin cutting calories a little at a time and incorporate changes as you go rather than going in with an all or nothing attitude. If you go overboard with your dieting plans chances are that you are dooming your diet to failure.

Take your diet one step at a time for the best results and be sure to incorporate extra physical activity into the mix. Even gardening when done on a regular basis can burn calories, so can cleaning the house, and playing with the little ones. Take a walk to the park or the corner store rather than getting in the car and pull a wagon or push a stroller while you’re at it. The added weight will be just enough resistance to burn a few extra calories.

Dieting for weight loss does not necessarily have to be a major sacrifice on your part but in order to be successful it will be a radical change in lifestyle, particularly if you need to lose more than a few vanity pounds. The health implications of loosing the weight are well worth the required effort and should not be taken lightly no matter how excited you are about your new body that is hiding inside your old one.
Does it concern you? I have and yes it does concern me. The build-up of plaque in the arteries, called Atherosclerosis, can be very serious. With an unhealthy diet, cholesterol collects in the artery walls and can cause deadly heart attacks. I for one, would love to be around to see my grandkids, if my son ever has any that is (he is a little shy, but that’s a whole other blog…lol). In my research, I have learned that certain foods will clean out your blood vessels and improve your cholesterol and I would like to share that here. It’s our job to keep our heart healthy and we can do that with food, rather than potentially dangerous prescription drugs.

Some fruits and vegetables contain vitamins and minerals that keep cholesterol from oxidizing and turning to plaque. Others contain a lot of fiber that help to keep the colon clean, which can help to reduce cholesterol as well. Some of these fruits and vegetable are: apples, berries, red and purple grapes, pomegranates, garbanzo beans, tomatoes, swiss chard and spinach and plums, roasted almonds with the skins, avocados, tomatoes, oatmeal.

There are some foods that should be avoided, because they are high in cholesterol and saturated fat: red meat, egg yolks, dairy products, fast food, pre-packaged food, processed meat, and organ meats.

Foods that are high in soluble fiber are great at reducing the absorption of cholesterol in the bloodstream, some of them include: kidney beans, barley, prunes, apples, pears and oatmeal. Also, eating foods that are high in Omega-3 fatty acids like fish, flax seed, chia seed, and grape leaves help to fight cholesterol.

Of course exercising is another great way to reduce high cholesterol. It will also reduce any unwanted fat so you will be able to wear the clothes that you want to wear, not ones that fit, You should try to do 30-minutes of cardio per day. Also, drink more water; alcohol and caffeinated drinks increase cholesterol.

What is your why? Why do you want to improve your health? Keep that why in front of you, to help motivate you each day.

Fiber helps reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and lowers high cholesterol. According to the National Academy of Science , the recommended dosage of fiber is 25 grams per day, but the average American gets around 8 – 12 grams.

Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RD the creator of the popular F-Factor Diet, says that fiber promotes weight loss by acting as a sponge in your digestive tract and absorbs calories, carbs, fats, and sugars. She says that for every gram of fiber ingested, your body excretes an average of 7 calories. Researchers at the US Department of Agriculture’s Human Nutrition Research Center, found that women who increase their fiber intake to at least 24 grams per day have a 9.4 loss of weight in a one year period. If she adds exercise and a healthy diet to that, there could be even more weight loss.

Eating plant based foods is a great way to get fiber into your system. Here are some foods that are rich in fiber to include into your diet:

Eat whole fruits instead of fruit juice.

Snack on veggies.

Make vegetables a main course.

Add a filling vegetable salad instead of a starchy salad as a side dish with meals.

Enjoy a bowl of vegetable-based broth soup before meals.

Start the day with a high-fiber cereal topped with fruit and low-fat dairy.

Eat more beans.

Make all your grains whole and limit them to a few servings each day.

Add nuts and seeds to your weight loss plan, but keep the portions small because they are high in fiber and calories.

On his show, Dr. Oz spoke about a fiber called Glucomannan, which is a sugar made from the root of the konjac plant (Amorphophallus konjac). Glucommanan powder, capsules, and tablets are used as medicine.

Glucomannan is a unique all natural soluble dietary fiber that Expands 50 Times Its Size in your stomach helping you overcome the #1 enemy of weight management … overeating. Skinny Fiber is a great source to get your Glucomannan.

How does it work? Glucomannan works in the stomach and intestines by absorbing water to form a bulky fiber which treats constipation. It may also slow the absorption of sugar and cholesterol from the gut, helping to control sugar levels in diabetes, and reducing cholesterol levels, and aids in weight loss in adults and children.
